In March 2020, the world was overrun by the  COVID-19 virus. Schools shut down—life shut down.  Like many, I felt the heaviness of that time and was desperate to find peace. One day was particularly hard. Then I came across this hymn. Though I was familiar with it, I hadn't paid much attention to it before. As I read the words, the message pierced me. Carest thou not that we perish? How canst thou lie asleep? How many times do we feel that in life? And yet, the Savior answered me that day the way He answered the storm and His disciples. Peace. Peace, be still. Finding this hymn was a gift to me. I've gone back to it many times, needing that peace again, and each time the answer is the same. Don't worry. He's in control. Be still. In May 2023, while on a boat on the Sea of Galilee, after reading this very story of the Savior calming that very sea, I had the incredible privelege of hearing a men's chorus sing this arrangement of mine. What an experience! Again, the message rang in my heart and across the water. Peace, be still. I hope this hymn brings you the same comfort it has brought me.
