Harmony of the Gospels: For Latter-day Saints

Well...

I wrote a book.

It's been eight years, but it feels great to have published another book.

This one is different than my others. My first six books are fiction (romantic suspense novels). I hope to write more of those in the near future.

But...

This is very different.

Some of you may have seen that I have been working for years on a side project at harmonyofthegospels.com.

While that project is not like anything else you've seen from me on rebeccabelliston.com, in many ways, it existed before I wrote all six novels ...

... before I published a single song.

I actually started Harmony of the Gospels over two decades ago, and I've worked on it nearly full time for the last two years.

It grew from the desire to study the four gospels side by side, as the events occurred, and not have to flip back and forth.

I wanted to compare how Matthew, Mark, Luke, AND John shared their particular gospels, their unique details and stories only they have told. So I built that out. From there, I wanted all the scriptures in chronological order. That led to me starting a website that I have expanded to include all the standard works, along with insights into the people, places, family trees, and timelines of the scriptures. The website is still growing.

While I love that site and what it's grown into, several people (including myself) sometimes like having a paper copy over a screen to study, highlight, take notes, and read from.

So I wrote a book. :)

In Harmony of the Gospels: for Latter-day Saints, each story from the Savior's life is presented with the approximate time it happened, the people involved, where it happened, and the gospels side by side, to allow you to really deep dive into each event.

Included are passages from other scriptures, including Old Testament scriptures the Savior quoted, and scriptures from my faith, like 3 Nephi and the Doctrine & Covenants.

It has been deeply moving for me to study the Savior's life in such incredible detail. I thought I knew Him before.

I feel like I know Him even better.

I'm forever inspired by the way He loves, He teaches, He corrects, He serves, He gives.

He is my Savior.

And yours.

So while this project is different than others you've seen from me (and the reason I published it under R. L. Belliston—distinguishing it from my other books), and while it may feel like it came from out of nowhere, this book has actually been in my heart for the longest.

It feels wonderful to have it finished. 20 years later.
