Chillin’ up north
I went out of town last weekend — an awesome girl’s weekend up in northern Michigan — so I feel like I’m still trying to catch up, but…
I was interviewed by Nick Galieti from the Good Word Podcast. You can listen or download the podcast here:
I have to say that, although I was extremely nervous, I really appreciated Nick’s questions. Not only were they thought-provoking (and a little hard), but he seems to grasp the fact that I’m a divided woman.
I love writing books AND music.
Sometimes I feel compelled to distinguish myself by one or the other for the sake of simplicity, but really, that’s not who I am.
When I first set up my website, I was tempted to have a separate website for my books and music. I still might someday in the future. I don’t know. But for now, I’m both author and composer, sometimes within the same day. 🙂
I really appreciated that Nick Galieti recognized that.
I also loved his questions about the relation between books and music. At first, the two hobbies didn’t feel that related to me. It felt like I was abandoning my music to pursue writing. Maybe that’s why I added so much music to Sadie.
But…
As I’ve gotten to know a lot of authors, I’m pleasantly surprised by how many are musical. Pianists. Singers. Music teachers. Composers. There must be something in the brain linking the two.
Thank you Nick for allowing me to chat about both of my passions. It was a lot of fun.
Again, you can listen to the full interview with The Good Word here.
Have a great one!
